When Cafe Racer Dreams built the BMW R100 RS known as CRD2022, it wasn’t destined for a client. This one stayed in the family. It joined CRD93 and CRD2020 in the personal collection of founder Jaime Colsa.
CRD has built more than 130 motorcycles, but only a few have stayed behind in the workshop. CRD2022 is one of them, and it still holds its place in the story of CRD.
The donor was a BMW R100 RS. CRD knew this platform well. This time, they used the project to bring together everything they had learned over the years. At the front, a Showa multi-adjustable fork replaced the stock suspension.

It works with 330 mm discs for confident braking. At the back, Öhlins Black Line shocks add balance and control. Together, the upgrades gave the airhead a ride that felt smoother, sharper, and far more precise than the original machine.
The electronics were also completely reworked. Motogadget components formed the heart of the system. Their compact speedometer was tucked into a custom-machined seatpost.

It’s a detail that shows CRD’s obsession with clean design. Look at the cockpit and nothing feels added on. Everything flows as if it was meant to be there from the start.
The styling followed the same philosophy. The bike kept the soul of the R100 RS but carried a lighter, more focused silhouette. The frame and bodywork were pared back, leaving a lean stance with just the right amount of presence. Every change served a purpose. Nothing looked excessive.

When it came time for the road test, CRD handed the bike to journalist and racer Sergio Romero. His verdict was simple: smooth and comfortable.
Exactly what the team wanted. CRD2022 was never meant to be extreme. It was meant to be refined. It showed the history of the BMW airhead. But it rode like something far more modern.
Looking back, CRD2022 feels like a marker in the workshop’s journey. CRD93 and CRD2020 had already become milestones. This R100 RS carried those ideas forward. It showed how far the team had come in both technique and design.
CRD2022 doesn’t try to stand above the earlier icons. It belongs beside them. Together they tell the story of how Cafe Racer Dreams evolved, one project at a time.
For Colsa, it was a personal chapter in his collection. For the rest of us, it remains one of the true icons in the history of Cafe Racer Dreams.
